Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025
Ian Walker
My Story
Having vowed a long time ago that I would never run a half marathon, let alone a marathon, Jamie has inspired me to ditch that commitment and take on the Royal Parks Half together with him this autumn.
Jamie has been, and continues to be, an enormous inspiration to me. Having lost his eyesight in his late 50s, he has refused to let it limit his appetite for life. We took on a 10k last year, and although that is the furthest we've run together, we're going to aim to more than double that with the run this year.
Clearly we'd love it if you donate to support the RNIB - not only because it is a charity that does so much to help Jamie, but also because they did a huge amount to help my Dad when he lost his eyesight in a car accident aged 57.
Here's just some of the ways your donation could help:
- £50 could help someone coming to terms with sight loss by providing emotional support and practical guidance through our Sight Loss Advice Service, both on the telephone and online.
- £35 could help provide support and advice to a parent of a child with vision impairment, who has contacted RNIB for the first time.
- £25 could help produce a lively and interactive technology show on RNIB's Connect Radio, demonstrating how an app or device can help people with sight loss communicate easily with family and friends, or navigate their way around town.
Massive thanks for any donation amount - it means a great deal to know that you're supporting us, and will ensure our determination to push through to the finish line.
